Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Patiala was established in 1992 under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana with full financial assistance from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The KVK campus is located at about 90 kms distance from the main PAU, Ludhiana campus on Ludhiana-Malerkotla-Patiala state highway at about 9 kms from Patiala city. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is an innovative science based institution which imparts trainings viz.: Practising Farmers/Farm women (short term-1-2 days), Vocational Trainings for Rural Youth/Farm Women(5-10 days) and long term (1 week to 12 weeks) in the disciplines of Crop Production, Plant Protection, Horticulture, Soil Science, Food Science Technology, Animal Science and Home Science for farmers, farm women and unemployed rural youth. It also conducts ‘On Farm Research’ for technology refinement and ‘Front Line Demonstrations’ to demonstrate the production potential of various agricultural technologies to the farmers as well as to the extension workers.
