Ranga Agricultural University, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad started functioning at Garikapadu village, Jaggayyapet Mandal, Krishna district, from 03-07-2002 funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).The name of a distinguished Engineer Dr.K.L.Rao (Dr.Kanuri Lakshmana Rao) hailed from Krishna district is given to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra established at the village Garikapadu. It is located at 12 km away from Jaggayyapet on NH-65 of Hyderabad to Vijayawada express high way at 16.53¬0 latitude and 80.060 longitudes and an altitude of 84.4 m MSL. At present this KVK has an operational area in Vijayawada and Nuzvid divisions comprising of 8 sub divisions and 29 mandals from 2012.
